Hugh Jackman Recalls His Movie Audition With Sandra Bullock

Hollywood news and updates tease that Hugh Jackman revealed the movie he auditioned to be Sandra Bullock’s love interest.

Hugh Jackman rose to fame when he played the iconic Wolverine in a film-based Marvel Comic, “X-Men.” He starred in a 2001’s romcom titled “Someone Like You” alongside Ashley Judd. Last 2017, he stole the hearts of many when he played the character of an ambitious showman P.T. Barnum in the beloved musical drama, “The Greatest Showman.”

In his latest chat with Variety, the Academy Award nominee confessed that he once auditioned for 2000’s “Miss Congeniality,” playing the character of Eric Matthews. The said role was set to be the love interest of the A-lister celebrity, Sandra Bullock, who played Gracie Hart in the movie.

The actor recalled that nobody knew him at that time, but he still went for the audition and read movie lines with the lead actress. As they went through the lines, Jackman was wonderstruck and never ceased to express his admiration for Bullock.

“Holy s***! She’s amazing! And so quick and fast. I’m not even vaguely up to speed here. I was pedaling as fast as I could, but I didn’t know the script well,” he stated.

Benjamin Bratt got the role and Jackman hailed the experience as an “embarrassing moment” of his career. However, in the same year, the 54-year-old actor made it to the peak of success when “Wolverine” aired.

In other news, Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as Wolverine when Ryan Reynolds approached him for the upcoming “Deadpool 3.” According to Reynolds, he got to talk to Kevin Feige, the Marvel Studios President, and opened up about his idea to do a Deadpool-Wolverine pairing.

Knowing that he already gave up his claws last 2017, Jackman was excited to finally be back in his beloved role. The father-of-two also opened up about how Reynolds constantly reached out to him for the project, which was impossible to do because of their prior commitments. Now that it will be finally pushed through, he was thrilled, “A little part of me now thinks I’d be better at it. Is that arrogance of age or something?”

“Wolverine’s a tortured character – more tortured than me, but I always get the feeling of him being comfortable in his own skin. I feel more comfortable in my own skin now, even though it’s messier,” Jackman continued.
