Idris Elba No Longer Wants To Be James Bond

So much for taking that martini stirred, not shaken. Apparently, Hollywood actor Idris Elba says that he is no longer interested in becoming the next James Bond on the big screen.

And while no comments have been made about who is actually in the running, Idris has said that even if he were to get the job, he would probably turn it down by now.

Speaking to Variety in a new interview, the handsome British actor said that the James Bond rumors have been super flattering for a very long time, that ship has sailed a very long time ago.

He put it this way, “The truth is, I was super complimented for a long time about this. I was like, ‘This is crazy!’ James Bond…We’re all actors and we understand that role. It’s one of those coveted [roles]. Being asked to be James Bond was like, ‘Ok, you’ve sort of reached the pinnacle’. That’s one of those things the whole world has a vote in.”

He continued, “Essentially, it was a huge compliment that every corner of the world except from some corners, which we will not talk about, were really happy about the idea that I could be considered. Those that weren’t happy about the idea made the whole thing disgusting and off-putting, because it became about race. It became about nonsense and I got the brunt of it.”

Now, as far as who is going to take the job remains to be seen. For once it would be nice to see a female take on the lead role, right? Helen Mirren would be amazing in it.
