During the week, news that Denzel Washington, star of “The Equalizer” passed away made rounds on social media, especially on Facebook.

It seems like someone sincerely wishes the actor death because this is neither the first nor second time this death hoax relating to Denzel filled the Internet.
Back in 2011 an awful site, Global Associated News known for constant pranking and publishing of fake articles announced that the “Malcolm X” actor died in a snowboarding accident in Switzerland.
The record was later set straight by Washington’s publicist Alan Nierob who later revealed at the time that Denzel “is working on location in Atlanta currently.”
The second time was in 2017 when news that Denzel passed away while caught up in a drive-by shooting. Once again this year 2023 another fake news about the actor’s demise made its way to social media and nearly gave his fans a heart attack.

In case you’re unaware of who Denzel Hayes Washington Jr. is, which I highly doubt, Denzel is an American actor, producer, and director.
He was born on December 28, 1954, and is currently 68 years old, and has been married to Pauletta Washington with whom he shares four children, John David Washington, 39, Katia Washington, 37, Malcolm Washington, 32, and Olivia Washington, 32, since 1983.
He’s a multi-award winner with accolades including the Tony Award, Golden Globe Award, and the Academy Award. He’s best known for starring in the movies “Glory” (1989), “Malcolm X” (1992), “Training Day” (2001) and “Fences” (2016).”
The recent fake death news started when an unknown Facebook account made a post claiming that the father of four was dead.

The annoying post which almost gained one million reactions reads: “At about 11 a.m. ET on Saturday (November 25, 2023), our beloved actor Denzel Washington passed away.
Denzel Washington was born on December 28, 1954 in Mount Vernon. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.”
The write-up caused a lot of chaos online because major doubted the originality of the news while some who believed it without proper verification wasted no time in sending their condolences to his family.
Denzel’s rep later clarified that the actor is very much alive and in good condition too while noting that just like several other celebrities who have been victims of these prank posts, Denzel finds himself on the list. “He joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimised by this hoax. He’s still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet.”
Looking at the years gap between each hoax, there is one peculiar thing about it, and it’s that each fake death news comes after every six years of the previous one.
