Jada Pinkett Smith is standing firm on her promises and is not in a hurry to change that. While promoting her memoir “Worthy” which was released on October 17, Jada revealed something that shocked the world.
During one of her media rounds, Jada shared that she and her husband Will Smith have been separated for seven years now.
Her revelation came while she was sharing her point of view over the infamous Oscar slap which involved Will attacking comedian Chris Rock over a joke he made about Jada.
After the attack, Will was heard yelling “Keep my wife’s name outta yo mouth!” at Chris. According to Jada, hearing Will address her as his wife was shocking to her because they’ve been living separately since 2016.
It is worth noting that before Jada and Will got married, Will was previously married to Sheree Zampino. The two tied the knot in 1992 and had a son Trey that same year. In 1995 they divorced. Will went on to marry Jada in 1997 and they had their children Jaden in 1998, and Willow in 2000.
Jada Pinkett Smith — Where Does Jada And Will’s Marriage Stand?
The revelation from the “Red Table Talk’s” host shook the Internet and broke the hearts of their fans and many who looked up to their marriage. It didn’t take long for questions about what the future holds for the two filled the air.
During a confirmed preview of her Nov. 28 appearance on the “Drew Barrymore Show,” via “Entertainment Weekly,” the mom of two set the hearts of her fans at ease with her response.
“We’re staying together forever. I tried. We tried,” said the “Girls’ Trip” actress before going on to explain that of course, she has considered putting an end to everything they shared through divorce but every time the thought comes up she just couldn’t go through with it.
Prior to this, Jada had shared her reason for not filing for divorce all those years, “I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through whatever, and I just haven’t been able to break that promise.”
During his appearance at Baltimore book event in October to support Jada’s book, the “King Richard” actor Will described their relationship as “very long and tumultuous,” then went on to say “We call it ‘brutiful,’ It was brutal and beautiful at the same time.”
