There’s always one topic in a family that’s going to divide everybody – whether it be songs, or movies, or books – for Jada Pinkett Smith and her family, it’s food. The actress shared her family’s foodie ways during a chat with the hosts of the Off Menu podcast.
Jada Pinkett Smith Opens Up About Her Family’s Relationship With Food: “Hardcore Foodies”
Taylor Swift once confessed that food is one of the things that’s constantly on her mind, and I see myself mirrored in that statement. According to Jada, her family has different attitudes to food.
The “Gotham” actress recently chatted with British comedians Ed Gamble and James Acaster, who are known for inviting famous stars over for a chat on their favorite foods.
During the episode, Jada touched on different topics, from her family’s attitude to eating and even cooking food.
When it comes to food, Jada doesn’t overthink it, but she’s got two people who do in the family. “My daughter is a hardcore foodie, and so is Will. Hardcore foodies, so I’ve had to learn how to enjoy meals”, she revealed.
When asked if Jaden shared his father and sister’s love for food, she said, “Jaden’s not really… He’s not really a foodie. And I’d have to say my bonus son Trey is probably in between.”
James then noted that Jaden needs to join Jada on her journey to becoming a full-fledged lover of food, but the hosts did agree that the family covered the whole spectrum when it comes to our relationships with food.
“My grandmother probably was the only West Indian that I know that can’t cook”, she laughed, “So she would make stuff like cow tongue with cream cheese in the crock pot.”
Jada also revealed that growing up, her mother instilled in her the sense that food is for nutrition and not meant to be enjoyed, which might explain why she differs from her husband and daughter when it comes to food matters.
