Jaden Smith is back with his new album ‘2024: A Case Study of the Long Term Effects of Young Love,’ which dropped on Oct 18, 2024, featuring previously released singles ‘Roses’ and ‘D.U.M.B.’

Apart from it being his first record since 2021’s ‘CTV3: Day Tripper’s Edition,’ it’s also said to be a deeply personal one for him.This year has been a particularly musical one for the Smiths, especially with the release of Willow Smith’s critically acclaimed album, ‘Empathogen.’

Jaden Smith’s New Album Received Lots of Support From Close Family

First of all, let me start off by saying that Jaden officially announced the coming of this album on his dad Will Smith’s birthday. Following that, he got some support from his mother when she shared a personal message he wrote on behalf of the project with her fans.

Willow – not wanting to be left behind of course – joined big bro Jaden for the live viewing of the music video for his song, ‘The Coolest Part 2.’ At the event, Willow was seen dancing and generally having a good time.

It’s understandable that Jaden would want this to be a family thing, as according to a press release, the songs on the latest project serves as an “examination” of Jaden’s “experiences, his mistakes and successes, and his trials and tribulations.”

The star is said to see “future psychologists analyzing the project as a case study to understand how social media has impacted the way young people think, how they feel, and how they interact with one another.

Jaden Smith Reflects On the Deeper Meaning of His New Song ‘D.U.M.B’

The rapper released ‘D.U.M.B’ alongside a deeply touching message that sees him open up about grappling with the pain of hurting the people he cares about through his actions.

“My new song D.U.M.B. stands for Deep Underground Military Base which is a shoutout to the msfts who know wassup, but it’s really about how much I hate hurting people I love with my actions and how we can feel D.U.M.B. sometimes as we simultaneously try to find and be ourselves in the digital age we all live in,” he penned.

“This song was written over a year ago and is dedicated to myself, I mean no disrespect with the lyrics this is just my experience,” he added. “I’ve always loved learning but I was never the smartest tool in the shed and if you ever feel D.U.M.B. as you walk the road of life trying to discover yourself, just know you’re not alone cause, she keep looking at me saying is you dumb?”

At the time, he further told fans that the new song will feature on an upcoming project.
