James Van Der Beek Sues Sirius XM For Breach Of Contract On Podcast Deal

James Van Der Beek Sues Sirius XM For Breach Of Contract On Podcast DealJames Van Der Beek is suing Sirius XM for breaching the contract he had with Sirius XM and its subsidiary Stitcher. The contract says that an agreement of $700,000 for 40 episodes of podcasts that would be released weekly was struck, unfortunately, after a lot has been put into seeing that the podcast airs, Sirius XM bailed out on James.

According to James, James would have received 50% of the net ad revenue from the podcast which would be about his life as an actor and as a family man.

James Van Der Beek — Sirius XM Backed Out Three Months Into The Deal

According to the court documents, James began the deal with Sirius XM in April, around July, Sirius XM decided to “skirt” the agreement. The thing here is that James has had several offers from a lot of firms and companies seeking to partner with him for the podcast but due to the fact that James has hit an agreement with Sirius XM, and the deal had already begun halfway, James rejected the offers he got and cut ties with them.

So Sirius XM suddenly saying he’s no longer interested in the deal is indeed a breach of contract. Trust me guys, no one would feel good about it if they were the one. James lost potential business partners because of Sirius XM and the fact that Sirius XM hasn’t said anything about the lawsuit makes his actions more unfair to James.

According to what the court documents said regarding the podcast, “The agreed-upon deal even provided [SiriusXM] with a first look so that [Van Der Beek] could not work on any other podcasts. Yet, after the project was green lit and several subsequent actions had been taken by [SiriusXM] to set the podcast up, Sirius and Stitcher reneged on the agreement and told [Van Der Beek] that they would not perform.”

James Van Der Beek — What James Seeks In The Lawsuit

In the lawsuit which was filed on Friday, August 26, in Los Angeles, James is requesting that Sirius XM company and its subsidiary Stitcher should pay him the sum of $700,000, attorneys’ fees and expenses, damages, and some other compensatory fees.

Whatever the reason for Sirius XM’s sudden pull out from his agreement with James, there was no consideration for James who had other offers which might have even been more mouth-watering than the one he offered James. Anyways, there’s no news yet as to when the trial would hold or where it would take place but just so you know, Sirius XM hasn’t said anything regarding the lawsuit filed against the company. Not even an affirmation or denial.
