Jamie Lee Curtis Throws Shade At Tom Cruise: Here’s Why!

Find out what Jamie Lee shared about Cruise. And learn about her new film. Get all the details below.

Jamie Lee Cruise – Challenges Tom Cruise Praise!

Does Tom Cruise really deserve all those kudos for supposedly becoming the savoir of cinema? Because of her own box office success, Jamie Lee Curtis dared to challenge those gushing over Cruise. And Jamie Lee used her appearance on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” to offer up her own credentials, noted the Insider.

However, Curtis cleverly touted her success by seeming to behave in a sweetly humble way. For instance, the star of “Everything Everywhere All At Once” brushed off Corden’s gushing. And though Jamie Lee’s newest movie received 11 Oscar nominations, the actress claimed she didn’t want to talk about herself or the science fiction film.

“I know you guys think I’m here — I’m sure you do — to promote the best movie of 2022,” shared Curtis with the audience. And in response to the cheers, she modestly noted, “Which as you know, may not just be the best movie of 2022. But the best movie of a generation.” And Corden chimed in with praise for Jamie Lee’s co-stars Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, and Stephanie Hsu.

Jamie Lee Curtis Or Tom Cruise – Wins For Saving Show Biz?

However, the actress delivered more shade for Cruise via praise for herself. “And I’m sure you’re thinking I’m here to promote the fact that I won a SAG Award this weekend and that I was nominated for an Oscar,” commented Curtis. But “after being in the business since I was 19,” the 64-year-old actress insisted she didn’t seek praise.

And Jamie Lee added, “But I’m not here to promote that” about her box office numbers. However, Curtis questioned the way Cruise keeps getting praise for supposedly saving Hollywood. Because the kudos for Tom focus only on “Top Gun: Maverick” box office numbers, Jamie Lee shared her own box office success. Cruise’s movie took in over $1.4 billion globally.

“I’m not here to talk about the fact that my movies have made $2.5 billion in box office,” joked Jamie Lee. “And that Tom Cruise isn’t the only one who saved show business.” Box office numbers show “Knives Out” (2019) as Curtis’ biggest success. And the horror movie sequel “Halloween” (2018) comes next. Other winners for Jamie Lee include “Freaky Friday” (2003), “True Lies” (1994), and now “Everything Everywhere All At Once.”

Jamie Lee Curtis – Gushes Over James Corden

However, after dismissing Cruise, Curtis shared her real reason for appearing on the talk show. And she bid farewell to Corden. Because he will end his run on the “Late Late Show” next month, Jamie Lee wanted to thank him.

“I’m here because you’re a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful human being,” Curtis told Corden. “And we’re going to miss you. I’ve been here with you many times,” she added. “And you are just a great human being and that is the only reason I came here.”
