Jamie Lynn, Britney Spears Feud Turns Into War Waged By Lawyers

During Britney Spears’ deposition in June 2021, the songstress shared her desire to sue her family for alleged mistreatment and abuse. But then Jamie Lynn began to hype her memoir. Britney responded by calling the book’s allegations that she locked her sister in a room with a knife complete lies, reported Us.

The singer’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, sent a letter threatening a lawsuit. But then Jamie Lynn’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, responded with a letter on his client’s behalf. In that document, Freedman mocks the singer and her lawyer for making it seem like they took the high road, reported TMZ.

And as evidence, Jamie Lynn’s attorney cites Britney’s social media posts that target her sister. Sample phrases include “slapped you and mamma right across your f***ing faces!!” and “whipped your a*s.” But Freedman didn’t stop there.

The lawyer also believes that Rosengart failed to study Jamie Lynn’s book prior to sending a cease and desist letter. As a result, Freedman claims that Britney’s attorney ignored Jamie Lynn’s kind words about her sister. For instance, Freedman believes Jamie Lynn painted her sister as “supportive and a protective sister.” In addition, Freedman alleges that Britney encouraged her fans to threaten both her sister and her family.

What Did Britney Spears’ Cease And Desist Letter Say?

Insiders believe that the feud between Britney and Jamie Lynn Spears become much more heated as a result of a legal cease and desist letter, per CNN. That document, sent by Britney’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, focused on Jamie Lynn’s new book, “Things I Should Have Said.” And the letter targeted the memoir as poorly timed and filled with both “outrageous” and “misleading allegations about Britney.

But Jamie Lynn believes that the cease and desist letter errs in its basic premise. In her eyes, her book is not about Britney. As a result,  Rosengart wrote, “She takes you at your word and we, therefore, demand that you cease and desist from referencing Britney derogatorily during your promotional campaign. If you fail to do so or defame her, Britney will be forced to consider and take all appropriate legal action.”

Based on Jamie Lynn’s response via her lawyer, it’s clear that she sees the cease and desist as an unfair threat. Do you agree or do you take Britney’s side? Share your views with us. And then check back on our site for more celebrity news.
