Jane Fonda has become known as an actress, an activist, and in her early days, an aerobics instructor. But Fonda just added a new entry to her resume: Award Thrower. And Jane went viral for throwing an award at a director at a recent event.
Find out what led to the actress flinging a scroll award at a director. And learn how the event came just a year after Fonda revealed her diagnosis of cancer. Get all the details below.
Jane Fonda – Throws Award At Director
The annual Palme d’Or awards show included an unplanned moment this year, courtesy of actress Jane Fonda. Because director Justine Triet failed to take her scroll award with her, Jane picked it up and tossed it at Triet’s back.
And her aim proved impressive, with Fonda hitting Triet in the back of the head, reported Page Six.
The stunning moment occurred during the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. Jane looked fabulous in her black gown with sequins, chain necklace, and matching earrings.
And the actress demonstrated her ability for improvisation when a director who won the Palme d’Or for “Anatomy of the Fall” accidentally left her scroll award at the podium. First Jane sought to get the director’s attention.
But when Triet failed to hear the 85-year-old actress calling to her, Fonda decided to fling the award. However, she reportedly aimed at the director’s back. But even though the scroll hit Triet in the back of her head, she seemed unaware. As a result, the scroll fell to the floor.
However, fans delighted in the unexpected moment. And some on social media labeled her a “queen with an excellent shot.” Others pointed out that at 85, Fonda has stayed in “amazing shape” through the years. But based on her Instagram posts, the actress seemed more excited about meeting other celebrities at Cannes than her demonstration of award-throwing skills. For instance, Jane shared that she had met Kate Winslet for the first time. And she also proudly posed with Eva Longoria.
Jane Fonda – Celebrates Cancer Remission
The Cannes weekend took place about a year after Jane revealed her diagnosis of cancer. “I’ve been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma,” shared Fonda on Instagram in 2022. And she called her diagnosis a “very treatable cancer.” Because “80% of people survive,” Jane described herself as feeling “very lucky.”
And just months later, Fonda revealed that she was in remission after going through chemotherapy. The actress described her remission as the “best birthday present ever.” And since then, Jane has sought to stay healthy by regularly exercising. She even quipped about her motivation, saying that she aims to stay fit so that she can “make love.” And in a conversation with Andy Cohen, Jane shared that her sex life has improved with age.
