Jeanette McCurdy Joins Jada Pinkett Smith To Talk About Learning From TraumaYou don’t need to read Jeanette McCurdy’s “I’m Glad My Mom Died” to know that it packs a punch. And if you do happen to read it, well, you get to know the demons behind the actress who has easily made us laugh for years. Most of you will recognize her as the goofy boyish Sam, who starred alongside Miranda Cosgrove in the Nickelodeon kids’ movie “iCarly”.

Following her mother’s death, McCurdy revealed that she wasn’t happy with the roles she played, even though they were mostly main roles – and only starred as the characters because her mother forced her to. This probably explains why she rejected an offer to return as Sam Puckett in “iCarly’s” reboot.

Jeanette McCurdy – On Putting In Work In Order To Move On From Her Mother’s Abuse

Abuse hurts, much less when it comes from a family you trust and love dearly. For many years, McCurdy danced to her mother’s music, even when it rarely suited her. Well, these days, after her mother’s death, she’s spending it trying to heal from the aftermath of her mother’s “abuse”.

For many a month, the show Red Table Talk has awed, surprised, confused and flabbergasted fans. It boasts of strong takes on infidelity, female empowerment, marriage, family and mental health. If you want it raw, tune in to Red Table Talk.

On September 7, the Facebook Watch returned with a premiere episode featuring Jeanette McCurdy, alongside host Jada Pinkett Smith, Jaden Smith and Adrienne Banfield Norris.

During the episode, a lot of intense and disturbing details were revealed. She talked about being a child star, having an eating disorder and her unhealthy relationship with her mother Debbie, who died of cancer in 2013.

The particularly shocking revelation was the email her mother sent her in 2012, when she was 20 and in a relationship.

It began, “I am so disappointed in you.”

“‘You used to be my perfect little angel, but now you are nothing more than a little’ — all caps — ‘slut, a floozy, all used up,'” McCurdy read. “‘And to think you wasted it on that hideous ogre of a man. I saw the pictures on a website called TMZ. I saw you rubbing his disgusting hairy stomach. I knew you were lying about Colton.’ [I had told her I was with a friend, Colton]. Add that to a list of things you are: liar, conniving, evil. You look pudgier too. It’s clear you are eating your guilt.”

Along the email, she called Jeanette an “ugly monster” and ended it by asking for money to buy a new refrigerator.
However, despite the abuse, Jeanette insists she still loves her mother.
