The Big Lebowski Hollywood star Jeff Bridges has just shared the sad news with his fans, he is battling cancer. He tweeted the news by referencing his movie alter ego as he revealed his lymphoma diagnosis.
He tweeted, “As the Dude would say… New S**T has come to light. I have been diagnosed with Lymphoma. Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good. I’m starting treatment and will keep you posted on my recovery.”

He added this simple message: “I’m profoundly grateful for the love and support from my family and friends. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes. And, while I have you, please remember to go vote. Because we are all in this together. http://Vote.org.”
His account was flooded with thousands of tweets conveying support and admiration for the actor. Many were from well-known celebs and many contained personal stories of recovery. Still more had photos and memes from
Bridge’s iconic movie The Big Lebowski.
George Takei of Star Trek fame tweeted, “You’re a fighter. You can beat this,” and Rosario Dawson replied, “Keeping the faith with you love!”
Comedienne Kathy Griffin tweeted, “Jeff, sending you the wish, the hope, that you get everything you need and anything you want.”
Rosanna Arquette tweeted, “Love to you and the whole family dear Jeff. you will get through this and you will be ok. God bless you,” and her sister Patricia Arquette added, “Sending you and your family love and healing.”
On Monday night Jeff Bridges tweeted his cancer diagnosis and referred to his legendary character from the movie The Big Lebowski.
Bridges was born on December 4, 1949, and is an accomplished actor, musician, photographer, painter, sculptor, storyteller, and advocate for No Kid Hungry.
Bridges is currently working on the TV series The Old Man. The series is a spy thriller about a retired spy living off the grid. The spy must go on the run after he is targeted for assassination.
Bridges is the executive producer and the show is scheduled to debut on FX on Hulu in 2021. The companies involved in the project issued a joint statement after Bridges made his announcement. It read: “Our thoughts go out to Jeff and his family during this challenging time and they have our love and support. We wish him a safe and full recovery. And, as Jeff always says, ‘We are all in this together.’ Jeff, we are all in this together with you.”
