Jen Shah — Victims’ Experiences After Being Scammed
One of Jen Shah’s victims, a North Carolina retiree who goes by the name Trisha, 75, shared on the Thursday episode of “ABC News Studios’ IMPACT x Nightline” her experience of being scammed off her money through telemarketing scheme.
Trisha shared that the unfortunate incident happened in the year 2016 after her daughter acquired a large property that she knows very little about how to manage. “My daughter had just purchased this property. And I don’t think she realized that it takes a lot of cash flow to maintain a property this size.”
Trisha explained that in her bid to help her daughter, she created a webpage and that was the beginning of her nightmares. “I went online, did a webpage, just a standard, normal webpage. I was fairly decent in working with computers.”
“About three weeks later, I got a phone call saying, ‘We noticed that you have a new website. [They] did a sales speech about all of the perks if I went with them that they could teach me.” She went on to share that she had to pay the whooping sum of $12k for the first program.
It didn’t stop there. After the payment, so many additional charges were requested and she kept incurring additional charges until she paid the sum of $47k which is half of her retirement money.
Trisha admitted to being aware that she was been scammed, unfortunately, she was too “Shell Shocked” to report the case. It wasn’t until the Federal Trade Commission approached her and shared information regarding Jen Shah and her cahoots that she fully understood what happened.
According to court documents which showed victim impact statements —per PEOPLE, “One man said he “wasted about $40,000 trying to do good for my family,” another revealed how he lost the sum of $100,000 to the scam. Two other victims said the scam rendered them homeless.
Jen Shah — Why Jen Shah’s Stylist Shared Fraud Evidence Incriminating Jen Shah
Jen Shah’s hair stylist Koa Johnson had a hand in Jen Shah’s arrest. According to Johnson—in that same Thursday episode with “Nightline,” —his relationship with Jen Shah was super close so he knew how lazy Jen Shah was.
“I would describe our relationship [as] very close because it was a business relationship, but at the same time [it was a] personal relationship because I had to work so closely with her. When I first created a look for her based off what she wanted to portray [on RHOSLC], which was being a very glamorous, strong Polynesian woman, fierce, inviting, pretty much a badass.”
Johnson went on to share how, “Jennifer Shah is a very difficult person to get to do anything. She’s self-sabotaging. She will stay at home all day in bed, in her pajamas or in the clothes she’s been wearing for the last three days.”
Before saying that he leaked evidence that helped in sentencing Jen Shah. “I did submit some information that may have helped lead them in a direction to convict her in her federal trial.” Johnson went on to express his fear of never being at peace until Shar is locked behind bars.
