Jenna Ortega Claims Hollywood Lacks “Honesty,” “Humanity,” And “Integrity”

Jenna Ortega Claims Hollywood Lacks “Honesty,” “Humanity,” And “Integrity”You can trust ‘Wednesday’ star Jenna Ortega to say what’s on her mind, whether it’s “politically correct” or not. The actress first came under fire with fans for sharing her thoughts on the first season of Wednesday and openly discussing the changes she’d love to see happen in the second one, which by the way, she’s producing alongside Tim Burton.

At the time, fans did not find her revelation that she requested for certain things to be changed in the Netflix show in good taste. But that’s not stopping her from speaking her mind or discussing what she brings to the table in her work as an actress and producer.

Jenna Ortega Says The Entertainment Industry Is A “Touchy-feely” Business

In her latest interview with Vanity Fair, Ortega opened up about how today’s climate has created an atmosphere where entertainers are so afraid of causing offense to fans that they lose their “integrity.”

Last year, Ortega exited the ‘Scream’ franchise a day after her co-star Melissa Barrera was fired for posting about the conflict in Israel and Palestine online. However, Ortega cited scheduling conflicts as the reason for her departure.

“The business that we work in is so touchy-feely,” Ortega told Vanity Fair about the current state of Hollywood. “Everybody wants to be politically correct, but I feel like, in doing that, we lose a lot of our humanity and integrity, because it lacks honesty.”

“I wish that we had a better sense of conversation,” she continued. “Imagine if everyone could say what they felt and not be judged for it and, if anything, it sparked some sort of debate, not an argument.”

She then jokingly added, “Am I describing world peace?”

Barrera’s firing from ‘Scream 7’ comes after she supported Palestine in the country’s ongoing conflict with Israel. In a social media post, she accused Israel of “genocide and ethnic cleansing.”

‘Scream’ producer Spyglass Media Group shared the reason for the firing in a statement: “Spyglass’ stance is unequivocally clear: We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech.”

Ortega has a slate of movies and shows for fans to look forward to, including ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ and the second season of ‘Wednesday.’
