Jenna Ortega Finally Addresses Huge Debate On Her 2024 Romantic Film ‘Miller’s Girl’

Jenna Ortega Finally Addresses Huge Debate On Her 2024 Romantic Film 'Miller's Girl'‘Miller’s Girl’ literally hit the theater running… from controversies. Since the movie dropped, criticism of the erotic drama’s wide age-gap romance has firmly taken center stage – it’s the sorta thing that nearly happened to ‘James Bond: No Time To Die’ but managed not to. Well, it happened to ‘Miller’s Girl’ and Jenna Ortega is here to tell us why.

Jenna Ortega – Says R-rated Movie ‘Miller’s Girl’ Isn’t Supposed To Make Viewers “Comfortable”

Do you want to be in your comfort zone while watching a movie? Skip ‘Miller’s Girl,’ ‘Wednesday’ star Jenna Ortega has spoken.

In the movie, Ortega stars as 18-year-old Cairo Sweet, who gets romantically attached to her English teacher and writing mentor, Jonathan Miller (Martin Freeman) despite the impropriety of such romance.

The criticisms might have been ramped up due to the sex scene – fantasy and all – displayed in the movie.

However, if you felt uncomfortable and even disgusted by the relationship, you’re just having a natural response to the movie. In fact, according to Ortega, the movie was made to trigger such emotions.

“It’s not supposed to be a comfortable movie. It’s supposed to be awful at times,” Ortega told Vanity Fair. “Art isn’t always meant to be pleasant or happy and everyone skips off into the sunset at the end. We all have f—ked-up experiences at one point or another.

Freeman has also spoken up about the criticisms. He called the movie “grown-up and nuanced,” but carefully added that the movie wasn’t about glorifying such things.

Controversy or no controversy, viewers managed to send it to the top 10 most-watched films in the giant streaming company in the first week of May. ‘Miller’s Girl’ is an independent film that landed in theaters in January, before debuting on Netflix in late April.

For fans of Ortega, you guys have a slate of exciting new movies and shows coming up: ‘Wednesday 2’ with more horror and less romance (per the promise I guess), ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ and a brand new show starring Ortega and ‘Wednesday’ co-star Percy Hynes White ‘Winter Spring Summer or Fall.’
