According to a report by Deadline, Ortega is eyeing a lead role in the upcoming feature, ‘The Gallerist,’ which is set to center on “a desperate gallerist who conspires to sell a dead guy at Art Basel Miami.”
‘Birds of Prey’s’ Cathy Yan will direct the script, which she co-wrote with James Pedersen. In addition to starring, Portman is also attached as a producer alongside Sophie Mas, Jonathan King, Ash Sarohia, Tom McCarthy, Rae Baron, and Zola Elgart Glassman.
At present, Ortega is busy filming scenes for the sequel of the Netflix hit show, ‘Wednesday,’ and while there hasn’t been an official trailer yet, Netflix released a behind-the-scenes look in September.
The snippet gave fans a taste of what they can expect from the upcoming season, with Ortega’s Wednesday saying in her signature melancholy voice, “If we showed you any more, your eyes would bleed… and I’m not that generous.”
In other exciting Ortega news, the star will reportedly be joining The Weeknd and Barry Keoghan for a psychological thriller written by Trey Edward Shults from an idea the ‘Blinding Lights’ hitmaker had.
All We Know About The Weeknd’s Upcoming Psychological Thriller Starring Jenna Ortega
The Weeknd’s venture into television may not have started on a high note – what with the poor reception of his HBO series starring BLACKPINK’s Jennie and Johnny Depp’s daughter Lily Rose Depp – but that hasn’t stopped him from venturing even further.
This time round, he’s teaming up with Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan for a psychological thriller named after his upcoming album, ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow.’
“Abel is a visionary whose art cannot be confined by any single medium,” Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said. “With Hurry Up Tomorrow, in partnership with Trey, his musical universe expands onto the big screen with a psychological thriller that will usher in a new cinematic experience for fans. We are thrilled to be bringing it to audiences worldwide.”
