Jennifer Aniston has become one of Hollywood’s most beloved stars. As a result, her fans felt shocked to see that the Friends alum appeared to like Jamie Foxx’s controversial post. And that sparked a huge backlash for Jennifer.
Find out what Jamie posted that Aniston seemingly liked. And learn how she reacted to the backlash over her alleged antisemitism. Get all the details below.
Jennifer Aniston Likes ‘Antisemitic’ Post?!
The newest celebrity backlash actually features two different stars: Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Aniston. And it all began when Jamie shared a controversial post about Jesus Christ.
Because many labeled the actor’s social media remarks as “antisemitic,” they felt shocked to see that Jennifer liked the post, noted Page Six.
However, the Friends star then turned to Instagram to defend herself. And Jennifer wrote, “This really makes me sick. I did not ‘like’ this post on purpose or by accident.
And more importantly, I want to be clear to my friends and anyone hurt by this showing up in their feeds,” added the 54-year-old.
But fans responded by expressing confession over what Aniston meant by saying she didn’t like the post on purpose or by accident. However, the Friends star added, “I do NOT support any form of antisemitism. And I truly don’t tolerate HATE of any kind. Period.”
Jennifer Aniston’s Fans Slam Her
However, fans expressed anger at Jennifer for liking the post as well as Foxx for creating it. For example, one wrote, “Just once I’d like to log onto this site and not see antisemitism, especially from huge celebrities like Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Aniston. You don’t want to be an ally, fine,” added the former fan. “But leave us the heck alone!”
And another pointed out the irony in the actress who played Rachel Green seeming to like an “antisemitic” post. “Jennifer Aniston liking Jamie Foxx’s antisemitic post. She does know she rose to fame playing a JEWISH woman on a hit sitcom, right? Rachel Green was Jewish,” noted the fan.
However, Jamie at first did not respond to the backlash. And his controversial post read, “They killed this dude named Jesus. What do you think they’ll do to you?! #fakefriends #fakelove.” But Foxx deleted his post after getting accused of antisemitism. And he then apologized.
“I want to apologize to the Jewish community and everyone who was offended by my post,” shared the Oscar-winning actor via Page Six. And he admitted, “I now know my choice of words have caused offense. “And I am sorry. That was never my intent.”
And Foxx, 55, shared that he wanted only to reveal what he viewed as a former friend’s betrayal. “And that’s what I meant with ‘they’ not anything more. I only have love in my heart for everyone.” And the actor added,”I love and support the Jewish community. My deepest apologies to anyone who was offended. Nothing but love always.”
