Who else is excited to see Elektra cause some chaos? You are? Well, we’re happily going to get it when “Deadpool 3” comes around, because, as Hollywood Reporter reported, we’ll be seeing her in the R-rated comic movie.
It’s been like what? Nearly twenty years since Garner last wielded Elektra’s sai, but we trust Garner to deliver – like there was actually any chance of her not doing so.
Jennifer Garner To Become Her Most Famous Antiheroine Character For “Deadpool 3”
Garner will be working with Ryan Reynolds‘ Deadpool on this phase of the hit franchise, marking the second time she’s gotten to work with Reynolds and director Shawn Levy, after they first worked together on “The Adam Project.”
Shooting has started for the Marvel Studios production, with Reynolds reprising his role as the antihero for the third time. Hugh Jackman has even come out of his Marvel retirement to play Wolverine for what might be his last time.
This project, helmed by Shawn Levy, marks the first time that a Marvel movie will feature more than one character from the stable that used to belong to 20th Century Fox. Fox owned several silos of Marvel’s characters before Disney acquired it in 2019, bringing the movie rights to the characters back into Marvel proper.
The History of Jennifer Garner’s Elektra Character
Garner first played the assassin in 20th Century Fox’s “Daredevil,” the 2003 feature that starred Ben Affleck as the main character, Daredevil.
Even though the film was not that much of a hit, it did pave the way for Garner to step into a solo space, toplining Elektra two years later.
While Elektra might not have brought in the cash, it did bring something in the way of establishing Garner as one of few women to lead a studio comic book movie at the time.
Her involvement in “Deadpool” might be a sort of confirmation of the multiverse theme rumors that has plagued the franchise since its third installment was proposed.
Marvel’s Kevin Feige, Levy and Reynolds are producing “Deadpool 3,” with Reynolds joining Levy, Paul Wernick, Rhett Reese and Zeb Wells to write the script.
