Fans of “The Hunger Games” have long wished to see Katniss Everdeen in action again, and for a while it was starting to seem as if all hopes were fizzling out, but Jennifer Lawrence has restored it. Did she just hint that there’s a chance for us to return to Panem?
Jennifer Lawrence – Is “100 Percent” Open To Reprising The Role That Catapulted Her To Global Fame
In a recent interview with Variety, the Oscar-winning actor revealed that she is open to stepping back into Katniss Everdeen’s shoes for one more brave adventure.
“Oh, my God – totally!” was Lawrence’s answer when she was asked whether playing the famous dystopian character was still something she wanted to do. “If Katniss could ever come back into my life, 100 percent.”
Lawrence then joked, “My producing partner just clutched her heart.”
Lawrence, 32, played the heroine Katniss in all four “The Hunger Games” films from 2012 to 2015. The sci-fi adventure was based on a trilogy of the same name by Suzanne Collins, and told of a dystopian world where the government forces people from different districts to compete in a series of deadly games that often see them killing each other in order to come out on top. Following the massive success of the franchise, Jennifer Lawrence rose to become a household name.
Earlier this year, it seemed as if fans simultaneously decided to revisit the franchise, even though it ended almost a decade ago. Fans tweeted their takes from the movies and a few of them went viral. This renewed interest is perhaps not unrelated to the fact that a prequel film called “Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” will premiere this coming November.
It’s comforting to know that Lawrence is willing and ready to polish up Katniss’ signature weapon – bow – and get back into the deeply disturbing world of Panem whenever duty calls.
