Although the couple have been spotted separately and on different occasions with their wedding rings intact, it still didn’t quell the divorce rumors hovering around them.
The “Shot Gun Wedding” actress recently attended a press conference to promote her new film “Atlas” with her co-stars in Mexico City when a reporter thought it wise to ask Lopez how her relationship with her husband is. Apparently, the reporter was hoping to score some quick points for her outlet unfortunately, Lopez and her colleagues were having none of it.
Just when Lopez was about to give her response, co-star Simu Liu cut in, “OK, we’re not doing that,” before adding, “Thank you guys so much. We really appreciate it.” Lopez on the other hand was very disappointed that her marriage would be brought up at the gathering meant solely to answer questions about her new film.
Looking straight at the reporter’s face for about 30 seconds, disappointment boldly written all over her face, she said, “You know better than that.” Liu added, “C’mon, don’t come in here with that.”
Lopez’s reaction is quite understandable because Affleck once shared that he’s a private person who tries to keep his private life out of the public eye.
Jennifer Lopez — On Lopez and Affleck’s Marriage
Affleck and Lopez first got engaged in 2002 but few days before their wedding in 2003, they broke up. Twenty years later, they walked down the aisle. The “Batman” actor revealed in his wife’s documentary “The Greatest Love Story Never Told” that before they rekindled their love in 2021, he made sure that he and the “Marry Me” actress met each other halfway due to their personality differences.
“I had a very firm sense of boundaries initially around the press,” said Affleck in the documentary before continuing, “While Jen, I don’t think objected to it in the way I did. I very much did object to it. Getting back together, I said, ‘Listen, one of the things I don’t want is a relationship on social media.'”
He went on to add, “And then I sort of realized it’s not a fair thing to ask. It’s sort of like you’re gonna marry a boat captain and you go, ‘Well, I don’t like the water.’ We’re just two people with kind of different approaches trying to learn to compromise.” The star of “Good Will Hunting” made the revelation from the perspective of someone who called off his engagement with “The Mother” actress because of “the massive amount of scrutiny around our private life.”
