On January 1, Jeremy Renner drove his snowplow to help free his nephew’s vehicle that had gotten stuck in the snow. In the process, the snowplow started moving unexpectedly and Renner threw himself at it to safeguard his nephew.
He was so battered from the accident that his eye popped and he broke more than a dozen bones in his body. For a second, Renner’s nephew feared the star had died, but he was happily still alive. He was later airlifted to the hospital where he got the emergency treatment he needed.
Jeremy Renner – Says He Won’t Destroy The Snowplow That Almost Killed Him: “I Love That Snowplow”
Jeremy Renner hasn’t let his snowplow accident stop him from moving on with his life, with the star making his first red carpet appearance at the premiere of his new Disney+ series, “Rennervations.”
On Tuesday, April 11, the 52-year-old “Hawkeye” actor walked the red carpet with his family at the Westwood Regency Village Theater in Los Angeles, where he had a chat with Access Hollywood. With the help of a scooter, Renner made his way around the place and appeared to be in high spirits.
Speaking to the media outlet, he revealed that he doesn’t want to get rid of the snowplow. “I love that vehicle and it’s just not going anywhere. As much as my mom wants to burn it, it’s gonna be something that I’m not getting rid of.” He added, “It’s a necessity for the property, I’ll just be smarter with it I suppose.”
The 14,330-pound Sno-Cat inflicted strong injuries on Renner after it ran him over as he tried to jump back in and prevent it from hitting his nephew. It broke thirty of his bones, pierced his liver, and caused his lung to collapse. He also recently revealed that his eye popped out to the extent he could see one with the other.
Jeremy Renner – On The Things that Motivated Him On His Road To Recovery
As he recovered, Renner depended on the things that made him happy to help him rise above the pain and challenges. “Everybody needs something to look forward to in life,” he noted. “Especially when we had our Covid years and all of that.”
He also said that finding “joy in life” through his family and career helped him fight to recover.
“Outside of personal goals and getting better for my daughter was this show,” he explained, “and the show was setting intentions of certain milestones of my recovery, to get better, ’cause we worked all so hard to make this happen. I wasn’t gonna let some stupid snowplow to stop me or stop this show from coming out.”
