Jeremy Renner is not ready to say goodbye to his iconic MCU character Hawkeye yet, despite his accident currently leaving him unable to perform adventurous stunts. Happily, he’s working so hard to recover so that fans don’t have to bid goodbye to Hawkeye.
Jeremy Renner Says He Wants To Work On Being “Healthier” For the Rest of His Life
In January 2023, Renner was run over by a 14,300-pound snowplow as he tried to wheel the vehicle away from hitting his nephew. He suffered 30 broken bones and was airlifted to the hospital where he got emergency surgery.
Since then, he’s been pretty public about his recovery process, and in January this year, he returned to the set of his show “Mayor of Kingstown.”
While he did reveal that shooting has been “arduous,” he did add that he was excited to be able to get to return to work.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actor talked about how the accident forced him to have a more health-centric lifestyle.
“[I’m doing] probably 90 percent of all the things I needed to be doing … I think another six months will be hopefully running [more] … I got to set goals for myself. I’ll do whatever I can … whatever it takes to get better, to get stronger,” Renner said.
He added: “It’s a one-way street, this recovery. The rest of my life is about health and wellness. Recovery will be part of the rest of my life, so I look forward to it, man. There’s always something to do to get better, be stronger, be happier, be healthier, and that’s what I look forward to.”
Jeremy Renner Says He’s Ready To Reprise His MCU Character Whenever He’s Needed
Keeping in mind that Renner was hospitalized for blunt chest trauma and suffered orthopedic injuries, including eight ribs broken in 14 places, left tibia broken, left ankle, right clavicle broken, right shoulder broken and more, it’s reasonable to think he’ll shy away from roles that require him to do intensive stunts and training.
Renner is quite confident that should he be asked to reprise his role as Hawkeye, he’ll be healthy enough to jump right back in.
When asked specifically about reprising his role as Hawkeye, Renner said, “I’m always game. I’m gonna be strong enough, that’s for sure. I’ll be ready.
All those guys come to my bedside and they’ve been with me all along through this recovery, so … if they want me, they could have me. It would be something.”
