These days, he’s well enough to attempt some stunts as the Mayor of Kingstown in the TV show, but, according to him, he knows recovery will be a lifelong journey.
Jeremy Renner – Says He Became the “Child” In His Relationship With Young Daughter Following Snowplow Accident
In his latest interview with ‘Parents,’ the ‘Avengers’ star shared how his tragic snowplow accident affected his family’s usual working dynamics, especially that of his relationship with 11-year-old daughter, Ava.
“I became the kid for the first six months. My daughter had to take care of me,” he recalled, adding that “There was something quite beautiful in that role reversal.”
“She had to grow up in a lot of ways. I overcame a lot of obstacles and got to show my daughter what resilience means by going through this journey with me,” he continued.
Renner was flown to the hospital on Jan. 1, 2023, after he was run over by a 14,300-lb. snowplow. He suffered 38 broken bones as well as a collapsed lung and significant chest trauma.
Happily, Renner has so far recovered from the incident that he says he doesn’t “have a bad day anymore.”

Jeremy Renner – On His Approach To Parenting: “It Takes A Village”
Going on to share his approach to parenting, Renner says, “As any parent knows, it takes a village. I think it’s very important to build one,” he shared. “You’re going to need many, many people — a cool uncle, a strong aunt — so that your kids have other voices in their lives that will be important to them and their perspectives. You can’t do it all for your kids 100 percent of the time. As much as we want to, we can’t.”
In the interview, Renner revealed that his love for Ava, whom he shares with ex Sonni Pachecho, has “only amplified” amid her newfound independence.
“I really understand my place as her father. It is my duty to teach her how to love, how to be strong, how to overcome. Leading by example has always been important to me. That’s only amplified,” he said. “My love is deeper, my conversations with my daughter are more adult. I now struggle to find the fun, goofy dad version that I was when she was 4 or 8.”
