Perhaps some people are born to be greater than any cancel culture movement that can be ever invented. It certainly seems so for the “Harry Potter” writer JK Rowling, who is still enjoying her time in the sun despite the moaners and keyboard warriors demanding her head.
Anyway, think what you want and say what you like, BBC has just greenlit the sixth season of “Strike” – a crime series based on Rowling’s books.
Crime Drama Series Based On Iconic JK Rowling Character Renewed On BBC
This 2024 looks set to be a comeback year for JK Rowling, who has faced multiple rounds of abuse for many months now. It’s been announced that not only is her series adaptation renewed, but one of her other works, “The Ink Black Heart,” has been picked up for adaptation.
Last year, Rowling saw herself at the center of a massive controversy when she said that she’d rather go to jail than call a trans woman “a woman.” This saw several hundred people, including organizations, lash out at her.
She was mocked by Oxfam with a disparaging cartoon and Labour’s Lisa Nandy insisted she should be “ashamed” of her stance.
It was trying times for the once celebrated author of “Harry Potter,” but she seems ready to rise from the ashes and reclaim her throne.
Following news of “Strike’s” renewal, JK Rowling took to X to share the good news, writing, “It’s been a fun day.” She concluded the message with a series of ominous emojis.
For this next round of adventure, Rowling, who penned the book under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith, will return to collaborate with writer Tom Edge once more, who had worked on the show for the past four seasons.
For fans of JK Rowling, “The Ink Black Heart” will mirror reality in more ways than one. The storyline revolves around Edie Ledwell, a successful video animator, who finds herself at the center of an intense online controversy, which sadly leads to her murder.
Since JK Rowling shared her opinions on the trans community, she has received dozens of death threats, some of which she shared on social media.
Speaking to Deadline, Rowling revealed that she had no intention of making Edie Ledwell’s plight hit so close to home as regards to her reality. She said: “I wasn’t clairvoyant… it was just one of those weird twists. Sometimes life imitates art more than one would like.”
