Candace Cameron Bure recently sparked a controversy. And it stemmed from the actress announcing her Great American Family network projects will avoid LGBTQ topics. But Candace’s insistence on focusing only on what she termed traditional marriage resulted in an immediate backlash.
Find out how both Jodie Sweetin and JoJo Siwa reacted. And learn which threw the most shade at Bure. Get all the details below.
Jodie Sweetin Shades Candace Cameron Bure
A war between two former Full House stars just went viral. It began when Candace Cameron Bure discussed her decision to leave the Hallmark Channel. And Bure shared that she moved to Great American Family in part for its focus on traditional marriage. But Candace also praised her new network as “Christians that love the Lord and wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment,” noted Us magazine.
And after Bure defined that as keeping “traditional marriage at the core,” the implications that Great American Family will avoid LGBTQ topics like gay marriage sparked a controversy. As a result, JoJo Siwa shared a screenshot of an article about Candace’s comments. The headline on JoJo’s Instagram image read “Candace Cameron Bure’s Plan For New Cable Channel: No Gays.”
And Full House alum Jodie Sweetin reacted by throwing shade at her former co-star Candace. Sweetin used JoJo’s Instagram post to show her support for Siwa. “You know I love you,” wrote Jodie. And Sweetin added heart emojis to emphasize her feelings.
JoJo Siwa Slams Candace Cameron Bure As ‘Rude’ To LGBTQ Community
In addition to uploading the Instagram image, Siwa threw shade at Bure. And JoJo labeled Candace as “rude and hurtful” to the LGBTQ community. “Honestly, I can’t believe after everything that went down just a few months ago, that she would not only create a movie with intention of excluding LGBTQIA+, but then also talk about it in the press,” noted Siwa.
However, Sweetin later shared more about her reaction to Candace’s comments. And using her social media platform, the former Full House star showed her support for the LGBTQ community. “Do you remember when Jesus said that’s easier for a camel to go through an eye of a needle than it is for a gay man to enter the kingdom of God? Oh, that’s cause he didn’t say that,” noted a TikTok video.
And the video added, “In fact, Jesus said it’s easier for a camel to go through an eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. That’s because Jesus never condemned being gay but he did condemn being greedy.” However, Jodie didn’t stop there. And the actress shared two additional posts. She put the emphasis on supporting the Respect for Marriage Act, designed to “ensure all legally married same-sex and interracial couples’ marriages are protected.”
