John Travolta got emotional on what would have been his son’s 29th birthday, “Happy birthday my beautiful Jetty. I love you.”
Jett, John Travolta’s Son, Died 12 years ago
John Travolta has had his fair share of heartbreaks, both in movies and real life. In 2009, the Golden Globe Award winner lost his first child, Jett Travolta during a Christmas vacation in the Bahamas. Jett’s death was ruled as the result of having a seizure. It was later revealed that he had been having seizures and suffered Kawasaki disease when he was only two. During a court case, John Travolta admitted that Jett had been autistic.
“Happy birthday my beautiful Jetty,” Travolta shared on Instagram on April 13. “I love you.” He also included a black and white throwback photo of him and his son.
His only daughter Ella Bleu also shared a similar message on her Instagram page honoring her elder brother’s death, with the picture of the siblings from their childhood days. “I love you Jetty,” she wrote, “Happy Birthday.”
Though the family weathered their son’s sudden death in private, they have occasionally remembered him and the life he lived, and if it was Travolta speaking, the life he, John Travolta, wishes he lived.
“We had a very full life, my son and I, 16 years,” John told Entertainment Tonight during a 2015 interview. “We did travel the world and he saw every place by the time he was that age. But, you know, you plan on a life that’s a lot longer for your child and you always intend to go first. So, that’s the difference. Regardless of the full life we did live together, you know, you wanted a full life for him.”
Kelly Preston Honored Autistic Children in 2019 With An Emotional Message
During 2019’s World Autism Awareness Day, the actress remembered her son Jett who suffered from autism, sharing a family photo with the boy in it. She wrote a sweet and heartbreaking message for the children of the world who suffered from the disease. As someone who’s loved and taken care of an autistic child, she understood the struggles and she congratulated children suffering from it and the parents who continue to love and adore them, despite everything.
“To my sweet love, Jett… you are in our hearts forever,” Kelly, who died in 2020 after a 2-year battle with breast cancer, wrote at the time. “I send love to all of the beautiful autistic children and the wonderful people who love them. May we all shine and grant love and respect to children with special needs.”

The Birth Of Benjamin And Finding Hope Again
In 2010, the couple welcomed their third child, a son named Benjamin Travolta. To them, the birth of their son was “nothing less than a miracle.”
Though the couple still missed their dead son, Jett, John Travolta said that Benjamin’s birth “has been uplifting.” He continued, saying, “He’s given the house a renewed spirit and purpose. He’s brought us a new beginning, and his presence has brought joy to all the people who have wanted the best for us.”
In 2019, Travolta discussed the importance of their children in their life in an interview with Us Weekly, “Our children keep our interest in life very high. “Their future is very important to us.”
