Johnny Depp Didn’t Win Everything In Defamation case
While it might seem like Amber’s ex won all the way, he didn’t. Riding high after the court decided that Amber was in the wrong, he went on with his career. In fact, he arranged a European tour with the Hollywood Vampires band. Additionally, he’s been working on a new album. However, it clearly bugs him that he ended up convicted of a single case of defamation.
Not accepting that Johnny Depp should get off lightly, Amber Heard’s legal team protested that at least one juror shouldn’t have passed the selection. On July 8, they proposed that Amber hoped for a younger one that didn’t show up. Reportedly, the subpoena for jury notice went to an address where two people with the same name resided. Well, the older one went along, and no doubt, his ears burned.
Johnny Depp & Amber Heard Hearings & Appeal
On July 17, the appeal for a mistrial was debated. For a start, they felt that the settlement amount of $10.35 million was way too much. Anyway, she lost, and according to The Daily Mail UK, “[Johynny’s legal team filed the appeal in Fairfax County, Virginia on Friday – just one day after Heard filed her notice to appeal the three defamation charges she was convicted of.”
In a nutshell, Johnny Depp’s attorney Adam Waldman described her side of the story as a “hoax.” Thus, she felt defamed and the court agreed. So, Depp has to fork out a cool two million. But, he has now appealed that. Well, why would he do that? Surely he can afford to just pay it and bury the whole ugly episode in his left.
When the New York Post shared the story on Twitter, plenty of people speculated about Johnny’s appeal.
