Days Of Our Lives – Alum Stars In Johnny Depp And Amber Heard Trial Film

Fox TV’s free streaming service, Tubi, will debut a movie about Heard’s and Depp’s trial. Titled Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial, the film stars a Days Of Our Lives alum as Johnny. And the movie adaptation of Heard’s and Depp’s trial will explore everything from the legal defense to the counter lawsuits, according to She Knows.

Set to premiere on Tubi on September 30, Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial will feature Johnny’s and Amber’s relationship outside the courtroom as well as during the trial. And look for Mark Hapka (who portrayed Nathan Horton on Days of Our Lives from 2009 to 2011) to star as Depp. Megan Davis, who starred in episodes of American Horror Story and 2 Broke Girls will portray Heard, according to TV Line.

Guy Nicolucci, known for Late Night With Conan O’Brien, will pen the script. And Sara Lohman (Lifetime TV’s Secrets in the Woods) will take on the role of directing Hapka and Davis. But Tubi chief content officer Adam Lewinson clarified what fans of Depp and Heard can expect in the film adaptation of the trial.

Johnny Depp And Amber Heard – Trial Movie Looks At ‘Cultural Zeitgeist’

The Tubi chief content officer emphasized that the company sought to get the film done as quickly as possible. As a result, Tubi teamed up with MarVista to put Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial on the fast track. And that allowed Tubi “to capture a timely take,” shared Lewinson.

However, Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial also explores how the story “became part of the cultural zeitgeist,” noted the Tubi exec. And he promised that the film will paint “a unique picture of what millions watched play out in the headlines over the summer.” The defamation trial pitting Johnny against Amber began in April and ended in June.

The trial started when Depp filed a lawsuit against his ex-wife. And he targeted several statements she made in her Washington Post op-ed. As a result, Heard subsequently counter-sued. And she accused Depp’s lawyer of defamation as well. But the jury found Heard guilty of defaming Depp in all three areas. And only one of the comments Depp’s attorney made about Heard got ruled as defamatory. Because of the differences, Depp received $10 million in compensatory damages. And Heard received $2 million.
