Johnny Depp Can’t Return As A-List Actor? Hollywood ‘Shuns,’ Says Insider!

Johnny Depp fans viewed his trial victory over Amber Heard as the start of his comeback. And in some ways, the actor has returned to his music and movie-making. But at least one Hollywood insider questions if Depp can return to his former A-list actor status.

Hollywood Insider Questions Johnny Depp’s Supposed Comeback

Johnny Depp fans assumed that the actor winning the case against Amber Heard meant that he could immediately resume his A-list actor status. But a Hollywood expert doubted that potential. And the insider told the New York Post about the reasons for his doubts.

Because of what happened during Depp’s trial, the source issued a warning. And the film industry expert shared, “I think he will have a career.” However, he added, “But I don’t see him being redeemed.” And the source warned, “I think big-name people in Hollywood will steer clear of him.” Because of his ex-wife Amber Heard’s allegations of domestic violence, the insider feels that Hollywood won’t want to take a chance on Depp. 

However, one of Johnny’s pals, film producer Jerry Bruckheimer, shared that he would take the risk. And he pointed to the potential for a sixth “Pirates Of The Caribbean” film as the perfect vehicle for Depp. “I would love to have him in the movie,” gushed Bruckheimer. “He’s a friend, a terrific actor,” added the movie producer. “And it’s unfortunate the personal lives creep into everything we do.”

However, although Bruckheimer believes in Depp’s future, the Hollywood expert doubts that Johnny can actually make a return in a Pirates movie. And the source explained, “Disney is the most scandal-averse of the studios because of their brand and theme parks.” Because so much of Depp’s past became evident during his trial against Heard, other studios may also feel hesitant to take a risk on Johnny, according to the insider.

For instance, Depp’s ex Ellen Barkin described Depp as “jealous, controlling and demanding.” And she alleged that he once threw a bottle of wine at her. However, Hollywood producer Kathryn Arnold specifically talked about Depp’s work on set. And Arnold shared, “We talked about the erratic behavior, the tardiness, the drugs and alcohol abuse.”

But the film industry insider shared that enough got shared to warrant Hollywood shunning Depp. “There are different levels of shunning,” explained the source. “[Depp] is not at the Kevin Spacey level. My guess is that he is more in the Mel Gibson range. The international audience will be happy to see him in things and probably a lot of people in the United States as well.”

However, the Hollywood expert also predict that Depp will face challenges in Hollywood for some time. And the insider feels that Johnny will need to turn to “the international market, financed with foreign production companies. The deals will come from people who are third or fourth tier. “
