Johnny Depp recently received a verdict in his defamation trial against Amber Heard in his favor. As a result, the actress now owes her estranged ex millions. But rumors have soared that Heard can’t afford that debut.
However, an expert revealed that Depp could still get the money. Find out how Johnny can collect that debt from Heard. Plus: Get more updates on Johnny Depp versus Amber Heard below.
Johnny Depp – Out Of Luck In Getting Money From Amber Heard?
Rumors that Amber Heard has become broke due to the trial against Johnny Depp and her own lavish spending have soared. As a result, many media outlets have reported that Depp cannot collect the money Heard owes him. But a lawyer, Raiford Dalton Palmer, offered an expert analysis of that theory, as reported by Geo TV.
And in Palmer’s scenario, Depp could get the $10 million in damages from Heard regardless of her claims of financial woes. “Johnny has a judgment saying she owes him. He can collect against her assets and income for decades. But smart people with money know how to shelter assets,” explained the attorney.

However, Palmer did offer a caution. And he hinted that Heard “might try to use bankruptcy to slow down payment. But this is not a cure-all.” The attorney, who authored “I Just Want This Done,” offered up additional scenarios. For example, Palmer noted, “An appeal could stay the execution of the judgment. Her team can get a court order delaying the money judgment pending the appeal.”
Amber Heard – Will Not Get Freedom To ‘Repeat Defamatory Statements’
Because so many questions remain about the trial verdict, some of Depp’s fans worry that Heard could try to defame her ex again. But the attorney also covered that potential. First, Palmer noted that if Amber’s team gets a court order delaying the money judgement, she would still face a requirement to post a bond. That bond would secure the verdict financial amount.
However, such a bond does not give the actress freedom “to repeat and republish defamatory statements,” added the attorney. And Palmer also pointed to the risks that Heard would take. “However, this is a calculated risk,” warned the lawyer. “Theoretically, all of the possible harm has been done and if people believe Depp, he won’t suffer new damages.”
But Amber, 36, has gone ahead with her official appeal, per Hollywood Life. And judge Penney Azcarate warned Heard’s attorney Elaine Bredehoft that the actress must agree to an $8.35 million bond to proceed with the appeal. However, earlier this month, Elaine stated that the actress could “absolutely not” afford to pay the settlement. That makes Palmer’s scenarios for how Depp could still collect even more intriguing.
