He may have fallen from grace with the whole Amber Heard controversy, but he’s determined to build up his career back to the A-list status he once enjoyed. Kevin Spacey should definitely be taking notes.
Johnny Depp To Join ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’ Co-star On Upcoming Movie Helmed By ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ Director
Johnny Depp’s diary is busy, and whenever he’s not inventing a new language to voice a puffin in an animated series, he’s plotting his Hollywood comeback.
Once an actor in high demand by Hollywood, Depp’s roles in major movies dried up following his big Amber Heard controversy. Now that it’s all behind him – sort of – Depp’s been plotting a slow and steady comeback to Hollywood.
His first attempt was in ‘Jeanne Du Barry,’ which was sadly neither critically acclaimed nor particularly beloved by audiences.
His directorial feature ‘Modi: Three Days On the Wings of Madness’ was better received, but it was still made with European backers and failed to properly penetrate the American market.
However, ‘Day Drinker’ has got some of Hollywood’s biggest power players backing it, thereby making it Depp’s first major comeback since his messy divorce from Amber Heard.
All We Know About Johnny Depp’s Upcoming Feature ‘Day Drinker’
‘Day Drinker’ is a crime thriller that finds a cruise ship bartender and a drinker inextricably tied up in a criminal activity after their chance meeting. The feature will be directed by ‘Amazing Spider-Man’s’ Marc Webber.
“Day Drinker combines a highly commercial concept with wildly outrageous twists and turns all set in an incredible world, and there is no better filmmaker than Marc or two more perfectly cast actors than Johnny and Penélope to bring that world to life,” Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson shared in a statement.
Thunder Road’s Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, known for producing Keanu Reeves’ hit franchise ‘John Wick’ for Lionsgate, will be producing. Joining on as producers are Adam Kolbrenner, whose credits include ‘The Tomorrow War,’ ‘Free Guy,’ and Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Prisoners,’ and Zach Dean.
Dean has made a name for himself in the action genre with credits like ‘Tomorrow War’ and ‘Fast X,’ and apart from producing, he also penned the original spec screenplay.
Chelsea Kujawa will oversee the project for Lionsgate, with Dan Freedman reportedly the man who negotiated the deal for the studio.
This will mark the second recent collaboration between Lionsgate and 30WEST.
