Johnny Depp has managed to survive the ultra-damaging effects of ex Amber Heard‘s allegations to continue to have a Hollywood career.
At the moment, he’s currently doing a press run for his second directorial project, ‘Modi,’ starring lead star Riccardo Scamarcio, Antonia Desplat, Al Pacino and Stephen Graham.
Johnny Depp Admits He’s Been “Through A Number of Things” As He Promotes New Movie
Depp and the stars of ‘Modi — Three Days on the Wing of Madness’ are currently deep in the promotional tour for the movie.
Even though Depp admitted that Al Pacino was the reason he decided to take on the project in the first place, once he did, he quickly saw similarities between the artist the movie portrays and his own beleaguered life.
“Each [character] has their story, because I’m sure we can say that I’ve been through a number of things here and there,” the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star told the room of reporters at the San Sebastian Film Festival. “But you know, I’m all right. And I think we’ve all been through a number of things, ultimately. Maybe yours didn’t turn into a soap opera. I mean, televised, in fact.”
Depp added, “We all experience and go through what we go through. And those things that we are able to live and remember and use, these are your stripes. You never forget them.”
What ‘Modi’ Stars Have To Say About the Overblown Defamation Case Between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard
‘Modi’ stars also weighed in on the whole defamation battle and the bad storm it gave birth to at the time it happened. I don’t think either Depp or Heard walked out of the grueling court case unscathed. However, Antonia Desplat, who plays British poet Beatrice Hastings in the movie, wants us all to “move on.”
When the cast were asked whether Depp deserves a second chance after the damaging allegations from ex-wife Heard, Scarmarcio rushed to his defense.
“Second chance? Why? I think Hollywood needs Johnny Depp, an artist of that kind. It’s very important for Hollywood and for cinema in general. And yeah, it’s a very controversial thing but at the end of this process, can you imagine how such a big sufferance there is behind these things?
When you feel attacked by a world, why? And actually, you’re a good man,” Scarmarcio said.
He further described Depp as “the nicest, the kindest, the sweetest man I’ve ever worked with in my life. The industry, I think, should be very careful, because artists are very, very fragile. It’s not easy to just arrive. Of course, there are privileges, but at the same time, it’s a difficult job.”
