‘Modi’ is just his second directorial project and his first in nearly three decades. For the movie, Depp, 61, worked with longtime friend Al Pacino, 84, Riccardo Scamarcio, 44, Antonia Desplat and Stephen Graham.
Depp and Pacino have imagined and discussed the concept for many years, but just recently brought it to life for the enjoyment of many.
Riccardo Scamarcio’s Modigliani Faces Different Challenges On His Way To Becoming A True Artist
The new trailer for the IN.2 Film has just dropped, showing us glimpses into the upcoming movie. I’ve got one thing to say and it is that it looks set to be as passionate, heady, and glorifying as promised.
The trailer officially kicks off with Al Pacino’s art collector character telling the Italian painter Modi, played by Scarmarcio, that “just because you can paint on a canvas does not make you an artist. Doesn’t even make you a painter.”
Modi, filled with angry pride, sets out to prove that he is a real artist by painting something so worthy of adoration.
The trailer takes viewers back to 1916 Paris, when the art world was once again going through a revolution, and follows the Italian painter Modi. The inspiration for the character Amedeo Modigliani is based on Dennis McIntyre’s play about the Italian painter.
What We Know About Johnny Depp’s Upcoming IN.2 Film ‘Modi’
The press release describes “a chaotic series of events through the streets and bars of war-torn Paris during World War I.”
It adds, “On the run from the police, Modi’s desire to end his career and leave the city is dismissed by fellow Bohemians. The chaos reaches a crescendo when he’s faced with a collector who could change his life.”
It’s romance, lust, passion and art all tangled up in a wild adventure that takes place over the course of three days.
In a January statement, Depp shared his gratitude to be a part of the project, saying, “Embarking on this cinematic journey as the director of Modi has been an incredibly fulfilling and transformative experience. I would like to express my profound gratitude to the entire cast, crew and producers for their unwavering commitment and creativity.”
Modi will release in theaters in 2025.
