Twitter and TikTok fans have turned to use hashtags such as “Justice For Johnny Depp” to cast their unofficial votes in Depp’s defamation case against Amber Heard, reported NBC. For instance, TikTok’s support for the actor has totaled about 3 billion views thus far. And Twitter hashtags parallel that belief that Johnny deserves justice.

As a result of Depp losing several film roles, some fans used his now-lost role as Captain Jack Sparrow to craft their tweets. For example, one fan wrote, “I want Johnny Depp to win this trial, look directly at Amber Heard, and say, “You will always remember this as the day that you almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow! Justice For Johnny Depp.”

At its heart, the trial involves Depp’s decision to sue Heard for her infamous 2018 essay. In that article, Amber described herself as the “public figure representing domestic abuse.” As a result, Johnny’s lawyers claim the essay contains allegations that he abused her. However, Heard has responded with a counter-suit aiming to get $100 million in damages.

But all the social media support in the world cannot restore the film roles Johnny Depp lost. And his public image continues to suffer from the court battle. For instance, both Amber and Johnny have alleged that the other got violent physically. However, Heard’s attorneys also have tried to use Depp’s drug use history as a weapon.

As a result of the damage done to his movie career, Johnny has admitted that he feels he already lost. “I’ve lost everything,” stated Depp, as re-tweeted on Twitter. “No matter the outcome of this trial, I’ve already lost. My life is ruined forever.”

However, one argument playing out on Twitter focuses on the difference between a man abusing a woman and a woman abusing a man. For example, some believe that Amber’s physical abuse of Johnny gets downplayed in comparison to Depp allegedly hitting his ex-wife. As a result, fans sounded off in favor of Depp.

“Amber Heard got a free pass for her lies and violence for 6 years. This gender bias must end now. Make her accountable for her actions,” urged one Twitter fan of Johnny Depp.
