Johnny Depp’s Daughter Lily-Rose Depp Denies Nepotism Helped Her Career

Johnny Depp became famous on his own as an actor and musician. But his daughter Lily-Rose Depp denies that her well-known father helped her career. And she slammed any hints that nepotism played a role in her success.

Learn what Johnny’s daughter said. And discover the meaning of the popular new term nepo baby. Get all the details below.

Lily-Rose Depp Slams ‘Nepo Baby’ Label

Johnny Depp’s daughter Lily-Rose Depp does not want to hear about nepotism. And she especially dislikes the trendy new term nepo baby. As a result, the actor’s daughter slammed the phrase in a new interview. However, social media quickly reacted, noted Newsweek.

But the 23-year-old feels strongly that neither her famous dad Johnny or her well-known mother, supermodel Vanessa Paradis, helped her succeed. And Lily-Rose insisted that growing up in her parents’ spotlight didn’t impact her own chances of success. However, Johnny’s daughter did admit that “the internet seems to care a lot about that kind of stuff.”

But Lily-Rose also believes that the world has “preconceived ideas” about her. “And I can definitely say that nothing is going to get you the part except for being right for the part. Maybe you get your foot in the door,” admitted Johnny’s daughter. “But you still just have your foot in the door. There’s a lot of work that comes after that.”

Getting Raised By Johnny Depp Is Like ‘A Dad Who’s A Doctor’

But Lily-Rose also feels that the concept of nepotism doesn’t make sense. And she compared growing up as an actor’s daughter to growing up as a doctor’s daughter. Discounting the spotlight, Johnny’s daughter insisted that she got no help from her father’s fame.

“It’s weird to me to reduce somebody to the idea that they’re only there because it’s a generational thing. It just doesn’t make any sense,” claimed Lily-Rose. “If somebody’s mom or dad is a doctor, and then the kid becomes a doctor, you’re not going to be like, ‘Well, you’re only a doctor because your parent is a doctor.’ It’s like, ‘No, I went to medical school and trained.'”

But social media slammed Lily-Rose’s theories. For instance, one wrote, “This girl is so out of touch my god.” And the commentator asked, “Why do nepo babies always deny their privilege? Like girl you’re rich. Your money and status has contributed to your career and that’s okay.”

And others pointed to Lily-Rose’s early successes. For example, one critic threw shade by asking, “Lmaooo what was the training required for becoming a Chanel ambassador at 16?” And another noted, “I know we all love a good self-made girlie story. But Lily-Rose Depp is absolutely not that.”
