Johnny Depp’s – ‘Modi’ Biopic Lands Premiere at San Sebastian Film Festival

It’s going to be ‘Modi — Three Days on the Wings of Madness’ at the San Sebastian Film Festival in September. The film will be shown in the festival’s out of competition strand.

The biopic is based on the life of famed Italian painter Amedeo Modigliani (played by Riccardo Scamarcio), and will explore the painter’s life of “art, love and rejection.”

Per the synopsis, it “follows a 72-hour whirlwind of chaotic events through the streets and bars of a Paris torn apart during World War I.” Other major stars in the project include Stephen Graham, Al Pacino and Antonia Desplat.

Depp has mostly kept to the front of the camera following his critically panned directorial debut ‘The Brave’ in 1997.

However, after his return to the small screen as King Louis XV in ‘Jeanne Du Barry,’ which didn’t make much waves when it premiered in the US, he’s decided to try his hand again at off-screen roles.

In a recent statement, Depp shared his joy to be a part of the project, calling it an “incredibly fulfilling and transformative experience.”

“I would like to express my profound gratitude to the entire cast, crew, and producers for their unwavering commitment and creativity,” he continued, alongside pictures from the set of ‘Modi.’ “To Al, who requested that I make this film — how could I refuse Pacino?

A sincere acknowledgement for generously contributing his talent and dedication to this project. ‘Modi’ is a testament to the collaborative spirit of independent filmmaking, and I am excited to present this unique and compelling story to the world.”
