Justin Bieber Performs Remixes of Old Hits and SZA’s “Snooze” In Surprise Concert
After a year spent away from the bright lights of the stage, Justin Bieber has officially made his return.
Bieber, 29, performed the short set at Drake’s History Club as part of the “Drew House x Toronto Maple Leafs” show. The performance marked his first live set in over a year and comes ahead of his 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend.
At the 2500-venue, Bieber performed remixes of his old hits “Eenie Meenie” and “Baby.” He also performed one of SZA’s latest songs, “Snooze,” which he was not only featured on, but appeared in its music video.
Fan shot video showed the global superstar rocking one of his Drew House hockey jerseys and slowly singing his way through some of the most popular songs in his catalog.
This marked Bieber’s first major return to the spotlight, and it comes days before his stint at the annual All-Star Game, where he will take on the role of team captain.
In September 2022, Bieber called off his “Justice World Tour” midway as a result of his battle with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which he was diagnosed with in June of that same year.
At the time, Bieber explained to his fans the reason for cancelling the shows, saying, “Hey everyone. Justin here. I wanted to update you guys on what’s been going on. Obviously, as you can probably see from my face, I have this syndrome called Ramsay Hunt syndrome, and it is from this virus that attacks the nerve in my ear and my facial nerves and has caused my face to have paralysis.”
He revealed that the condition was making it progressively harder for him to eat or blink one of his eyes, move his nostril and smile on one side of his face.
Happily, the singer seems to have made a remarkable recovery as he weaved his way through old and new hits. Towards the end of his performance, he invited his “Stay” collaborator The Kid LAROI onstage, though he did not appear.
“It’s all good, maybe we’ll come back. Love you guys, thank you so much,” Bieber said. This comes at the height of fans speculating that he’s working on new music.
