What We Know About Justin Timberlake And Tiger Woods’ Plan To Renovate Cinema In St Andrews

T-Squared Social has acquired the rights turn the New Picture House Cinema into a luxury bar that will feature sports simulators, duckpin bowling and darts. The renovation will reportedly retain two cinema screens.

Timberlake and Woods are shareholders in Nexus Luxury Collection, the real estate company that filed for the application to convert the old cinema into a sports bar.

The Scottish town which the property falls under operates under the Fife Council, which promises to “protect and enhance the character and appearance of the conservation area.” The project is expected to create 40 to 45 jobs.

The planning documents touched on the reason the cinema is being converted to a sports bar, with arguments stating that the New Picture Hotel will have to be shutdown if there isn’t a change in the site since it “currently runs at under 10 per cent occupancy and is no longer a viable stand-alone cinema operation.”

However, with the planned sports bar, local residents can “experience a broader range of cinema, dining and entertainment,” which will be “crucial in helping to secure a cinema offering going forward.”

Even though the cinema first opened in 1930, the renovation team is said to want to retain some features such as the ceiling, walls and stage. Work is expected to begin within the next three years as a result of the project’s terms of approval.

Tiger Woods On Moment He And Justin Timberlake Came Up With the Idea of the Sports Bar

Wood revealed that he and Timberlake came up with the idea to create the sports bar while playing golf at their development in the Bahamas. Timberlake has played golf in St Andrews in the past, including at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in 2019.

Speaking on the project, Nexus’ CEO and managing partner Christopher Anand said: “We are taking great care to preserve and celebrate the historic architecture and design of the theatre and continue its tradition of showcasing great films.”
