Kaley Cuoco To Play Legendary Actress Doris Day, Singer, And Animal Rights Activist

Kaley Cuoco It’s about to happen!!! Doris Day, the legendary actress, singer, and above all, fierce animal rights activist is getting a limited series based on her life, and Kaley Cuoco is announced as the actress to portray the iconic Day.

Following the scheduling of The Flight Attendant Season 2 to arrive in spring of 2022, Kaley Cuoco has decided to keep busy with developing the limited series about Doris Day. The project is said to be based on the biography by A.E Hotchner’s Doris Day: Her Own Story, which narrates Day’s life through interviews with her, conversations with her family, friends and co-stars, and her successful career in entertainment.

Cuoco’s Yes, Norman productions is set to team up with Berlanti productions and Warner Bros. Television, though there’s no network currently attached with the project.

Doris Day And The Story She Left Behind

Day began her 8-decade spanning career as a big band singer in 1939. She achieved commercial success when she was still with the band in 1945, with two number 1 recordings. Later on, she decided to embark on a solo career and recorded more than 650 songs in a span of just 20 years.

Day was one of the biggest film stars alive in the 1950s to 1960s era. She began her career with the movie Romance on the High Seas (1948). She portrayed widely different characters in a variety of genres, from musicals, comedies, dramas and thriller. Due starring in a number of, she went into debt when her third husband lost all her money before his death, and in that same year, she began her own sitcom The Doris Day Show, which lasted only for 5 years.

Doris Day is also the recipient of several major awards like Presidential Medal of Freedom, Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, Legend Award presented to her by the Society of Singers and Los Angeles Film Critics Association’s Career Achievement Award, amongst others.

No doubt Doris lived a full and interesting life, dying in 2019 of pneumonia at the age of 97. With 27 albums and a lot of movies under her impressive belt, it’s not a wonder that she’s getting a series.

Doris Day News – Kaley Cuoco To Play Doris Day In A Limited Series

Cuoco will not only get to play the character of Doris Day, but will also executive produce the still-untitled project along with Greg Berlanti of Berlanti Productions, Sarah Schecter and David Madden. The project is currently in the works but nothing is none of the cast or release date yet.

Fans are already wild on the prospect of getting to see the beloved American idol on the big screen. I am particularly looking forward and praying that they repeat Doris’ famous quote in the series, “If it’s true that men are such beasts, this must account for the fact that most women are animal lovers.”
