Kanye West – BANNED From Grammy Awards
The annual Grammy Awards has become an occasion for musicians to gather together and cheer for their own. But for Kanye West, the 2022 show no longer reigns as an eagerly awaited event. As a result of Ye’s social media behavior, the rapper got banned from performing at the April Grammy Awards, his spokesperson told People.
But the reasons for booting Kanye off the line-up of performers go deeper than one or two Instagram posts. For instance, West recently used a racial slur on Trevor Noah’s Instagram page. And Ye also has repeatedly threatened his estranged wife Kim Kardashian and her boyfriend, comedian Pete Davidson. Given that Trevor hosts the show on April 3, organizers reportedly felt worried about what the sometimes unpredictable rapper might do.
As for how Noah feels, the Daily Show host spoke out about Ye’s ongoing attacks on Kim. And Trevor accused West of becoming “more and more belligerent in how he tries to get Kim back. I do understand that art can be therapy. But I also understand that therapy can be therapy,” Noah pointed out.
Inside Kanye – West’s Increasingly Troubled Life
What happened to Kanye West that took the 44-year-old from a man who seemingly had everything (family, friends, a fabulous career as a musician) to a troubled person risking everything to launch those social media attacks? Insiders point to two key factors. First, Kim Kardashian, 41, filed for divorce from Ye. And second, the reality TV star began a romance with Saturday Night Live comic Pete Davidson, 28.
As a result, West has used both social media and his music to trash his estranged wife and her boyfriend. For instance, Ye created a music video in which a clay version of Davidson got kidnapped and buried. And that made Kim “furious and upset,” shared an insider.
But Kanye does have a few friends on his side. And one of those pals, Ye’s rapper friend The Game, turned to Instagram to call West’s un-invitation an example of censorship as well as slavery, per TMZ. But observers still await a response from Kanye himself for being so unceremoniously yanked from the line-up.
And one intriguing question remains unanswered. Given that West got nominated for five Grammy Awards this year, will he secretly tap someone else to leap to the stage and speak for him? Four of Ye’s Grammy nods represent his 10th studio album Donda. And Kanye even got nominated for album of the year as a producer for Lil Nas X’s debut album Montero.
