Kim Kardashian is taking us back to October 2016 when she was robbed at gunpoint in the wee hours of the morning. Having described the incident, which saw the criminals make off with millions of dollars’ worth of jewelry, including her engagement ring, as “seven or eight minutes of torture,” she’s now shedding more light on the reactions of the people around her at the time.
Let’s talk Kanye West, shall we?
Kim Kardashian Reveals Kanye West Accused Her of Lying About Her “Traumatic” Paris Robbery
In 2020, Kim Kardashian described her “traumatic” robbery experience to David Letterman, revealing that she was tied up with zip ties, duct tape, and handcuffs. She described the experience of being blindfolded and gagged, while armed gunmen ransacked her hotel room.
You can imagine that after witnessing such an ordeal, one would greatly benefit from the love and support of their loved ones, and not doubt and derison, but that was what Kim got from ex-husband Kanye West.
“My ex-husband had said, ‘And you faked your robbery for a TV show,’ and had said that in front of all these people,” the reality TV star and business mogul said in the latest episode of The Kardashians. “That was a knife to my heart.”
“Just to think that someone wouldn’t believe you — that’s so close to you, that should know you, that should know how much that affected your life — it just really bothered me,” she said, emotionally adding, “You don’t know who I am.”
Of course Kanye West was backed by thousands of fans who refused to believe Kim’s account of the robbery, but that didn’t make it any less painful or wrong.
However, Kim’s vindication would come in May this year, when she testified in a Paris court for six hours.
“To finally go to trial and face these people and hear their accounts and apologies, I’m like, ‘See, guys, it was real,’” Kim tearfully said in her Hulu’s ‘The Kardashians’ confessional, adding, “I’m happy it’s over.”
But don’t think it was a panicked Kim that walked into the courtroom, because it couldn’t be further from the truth.
“I’m just not nervous. This was less than 10 minutes of my life. I’ve lived an amazing life. That’s always given me a little bit of peace, just to know — what was it? Eight, nine minutes? — of pure terror and panic aren’t going to ruin me.”
