Find out exactly how the social media giant responded to the musician/fashion designer’s angry rants on Instagram. And see what Ye, as he’s also known, did that resulted in the penalty. Learn all about Kanye West’s latest drama below.
Kanye West – Instagram Penalizes Kanye West
Social media companies like Instagram increasingly face heat heat for allowing inflammatory comments to get posted. As a result, Kanye West recently came under scrutiny for his decision to target both his ex Kim Kardashian and her boyfriend Pete Davidson with angry rants. And West finally went too far in using a racial slur against Trevor Noah, reported Page Six.
But Instagram also evaluated Ye’s recent posts slamming Kim and Pete. Added to Kanye’s recent racial slur against Trevor, Instagram stated that West violated the company’s hate speech, bullying, and harassment policies. As a result, Ye cannot post, comment, or send direct messages via Instagram for 24 hours.
But the possible penalties don’t end with that 24-hour suspension. If Kanye keeps violating Instagram’s guidelines, West will face additional restrictions. As for how Ye got that penalty, it all began with his attacks on Kim, 41, and her boyfriend Pete, 28. But the rapper’s racial slur at Trevor, 38, caused the most outrage.
Kanye West – Why Did Kanye West Target Trevor Noah?
Kanye West’s attacks on Trevor Noah began when the comedian talked about Ye’s divorce drama with Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson on “The Daily Show.” And Trevor made it clear that he saw no humor in West’s trashing his estranged wife and her boyfriend. For instance, Noah called West’s Instagram posts “terrifying to watch. And it shines a spotlight on what so many women go through when they choose to leave,” added Noah.
But Trevor also saw parallels in Kim’s challenges with Kanye and his own shock at seeing his stepfather shoot his mother, Patricia. “As a society, we have to ask ourselves questions. Do we wish to stand by and watch a car crash when we thought we saw it coming?” Noah asked on the show.
As a result of the talk show host’s questions about Kanye’s Instagram posts, West posted a racial slur. “All in together now… K–n baya my lord k–n baya K–n baya my lord K–n baya Oooo’ lord K–n baya,” Ye wrote. And that offensive “k–n” slur replacing the lyrics of “Kumbaya” caused Instagram to quickly react. But the company also warned Ye that if he keeps crossing the line of acceptable posts, he will face additional penalties.
