Kanye West has had some serious issues as of late, but the question remains, should he get a pass merely because he’s got bipolar disorder?
“Crazy” is a word that’s not gonna be used loosely in the future. Understand that this is actually a condition that people can end up in, be born into, driven into and go in and out,” Ye said two years ago in an interview with Forbes.
According to Vox, Kanye doesn’t like the word “crazy” and yet he continues to behave in such a way that the word is frequently called to mind, and critics have said worse about the rapper. Continue reading and we’ll discuss.
Ye WEST Has Drawn Sharp Criticism In Recent Weeks
In recent weeks the singer/songwriter has been referred to in much more colorful ways, like insane, unhinged, even psychotic, but he still perseveres, albeit in “crazy” fashion. After news of Ye’s split with socialite Kim Kardashian broke, and Kim then began dating SNL comedian Pete Davidson, everyone braced themselves for what would soon come, and it did come.
I have bipolar myself and so can relate to the music producer’s “crazy” side. It can sometimes take years to get a handle on the roller coaster of emotions and impulsivity that is bipolar, a condition marked by periods of both mania and depression. In the interim, we may say and do things we later wish we hadn’t. This is where we find Ye today.
Mental Illness May Not Be Your Fault, It Is Your Problem
The question then arises, if a person is not in full control of his/her emotions, are they responsible for their actions? Isn’t Kanye? Worth noting is that America’s prisons are filled with people that weren’t in full control of their emotions when they committed their crimes.
It may not be someone’s fault that they have mental illness, but it is their problem. That means, it’s up to us to do what we need to do to avoid pitfalls and, failing that, take our licks as we earn them.
This is where Kanye is finding himself. It may be time for him to admit that he’s lost Kim and move on. However, he must first slow the roller coaster down long enough to step off.

Will Kanye West Get Help for Bipolar Disorder?
Ye first shared his diagnosis in 2018 and, since then, the world has seen his mental illness play out in a very public arena. That means all his “crazy” moments are displayed in real-time, for everyone to see. The music producer has deleted entire conversations where he behaved erratically, but then days later has started it all up again.
It’s clear, West should get help, but mostly, he needs to learn to let it go. In a life as public as his is, everything he does will be scrutinized and criticized, and that never helped anyone, let alone someone with bipolar disorder.
