Katie Holmes New Movie: “Alone Together” With Derek Luke

Katie Holmes is back in the director’s chair and she’s reuniting with people she’s already worked with in the past. For this upcoming project, Holmes did triple duty – writing, directing and starring in the Covid-era drama.

For her upcoming film, Katie Holmes, 43, reunited with her 2003 “Pieces of Me” costar Derek Luke. The new movie is set to mark her second big-screen directorial debut after 2016’s “All We Had”.

The film follows Holmes’ character June, a food critic who plans to shake off the blues of the Covid lockdown by going on a vacation with her boyfriend. However, her plans of a happy vacation “go wrong from the very start” after she travels to “upstate for a short romantic getaway to “escape quarantine in New York City,” according to the movie’s official synopsis.

“Her rental has been double-booked by recently single Charlie (Jim Sturgess), her boyfriend (Luke, 48) decides to stay in the city and her cordon bleu life is now being served by Chef Boyardee,” the synopsis adds. “With no other option, newfound frenemies strike a deal to share the rental armed with plenty of wine to ride out their stay.”

“As time goes on, these two polar opposites find common ground bonding over shared goals, ambitions and, of course, relationships,” the synopsis concludes.

“Alone Together” Trailer Promises Heartbreak And Finding New Love

In the recently released trailer, June arrives at her Airbnb rental after several mishaps and finds out that someone else – Charlie, played by Sturgess, 44 – is already occupying the place. As the plot develops, June begins to doubt her boyfriend’s intentions for not meeting up with her after he booked them a “house out of town”. She soon begins to develop feelings for Charlie as she gets to know him better.

“Do I really wanna be with somebody who doesn’t want to be with me during a pandemic?” she asks.

“I know that you gotta try and find happiness and people are gonna judge you no matter what, so you might as well do what you want in life,” Charlie responds.
