Some fans call it the “worst thing” to come out of her career. It’s even worse than her previous singles “Roar” and “Chained to the Rhythm.” Katy got heckled amid her big comeback. Read on to learn more.
Katy Perry – Teases New Song
Earlier this week, Katy Perry announced her comeback to pop music. She’s working on her sixth album. In May, Katy ended her run on American Idol. The pop star wanted to focus on making music.
On Monday, June 17, Katy announced her new song “Woman’s World.” She wore a sexy get-up for the occasion. In a video posted to Instagram, she wore a tiny white sheer bikini top that barely covered her chest. It revealed her cleavage and underboob.
Katy Perry panned the camera slowly down her body as she sang along to her new song. She wore matching white bottoms, which were made of the same material. She finished off her outfit with black leather chaps.
Katy’s signature dark hair was styled in loose waves. She also wore a full face of makeup which included fuschia lipstick. The song leaked early on TikTok. She previously teased that the song comes out July 11. That’s several weeks away.
Critics are already sharing their thoughts on the new song. They call it “cringy” and “terrible.” The lyrics go, “Sexy, confident. So intelligent. She is heaven-scent. So soft, so strong” over a heavy dance beat.
“New Katy Perry snippet is the worst thing I’ve ever heard,” one fan wrote.
“The new snippet of Katy Perry’s latest single sounds like an autotuned Real Housewife release so kinda terrible and kinda camp,” another user mused.
Back To The Drawing Board?
Some wonder whether the singer will go back to the drawing board. Katy Perry was also mocked for working with scorned producer Dr. Luke. She reconnected with him after his downfall from grace. Kesha accused him of sexual assault.
According to Rolling Stone, Katy also reached out to Max Martin, Stargate, and several other producers. She wanted to work with some of the producers who created the hit songs on her albums, Teenage Dream and Prism.
She might not score a hit this time around. What are your thoughts on Katy Perry’s new song? Sound off below in the comment section.
