Katy Perry Is Conscious Of becoming “Fat Elvis” During Her Las Vegas Residency

Katy Perry Is Conscious Of becoming "Fat Elvis" During Her Las Vegas ResidencyThe 37-year-old “Roar” singer Katy Perry has been having her play shows since last year December at the new Resorts World hotel in Sin City, although she has been having back-to-back bookings, she revealed in her recent conversation with Smartless Podcast that she is very conscious of being “fat Elvis” because she always has three weeks bookings and six to nine weeks off.

“It’s three weeks on and then sometimes six to nine weeks off. It’s really easy to become fat Elvis in between.” Katy Perry made that comment because the legendary music icon Elvis Presley was also well known for his Las Vegas residency tours. While she spoke about her busy/not too busy schedule, she said that her timetable is not entirely bad because it grants her the opportunity to take her daughter Daisy, 2, who she shares with her partner Orlando Bloom.

How Katy Perry Switched From Gospel Music To Pop

Katy also revealed the source of her stage name Katy Perry. The singer was born Katherine Hudson but she chose to adopt her mom’s maiden name Perry, because she doesn’t like it when people call her Katy Hudson, she added that she gets along with her actress mom Mary Perry Hudson. “[My name is] Katherine Hudson, people called me Katy Hudson. In the beginning, I decided not to do that. My mother’s maiden name, Perry. [Actress Kate Hudson and I are] best friends, we get along. That was actually the first thing we got along on.”

Katy Perry was born in a strict Christian home, she grew up listening to gospel songs, in fact, she never listened to any song that’s not gospel, that was until she turned thirteen, she bumped into Freddie Mercury’s song from the Queens, she loved it so much, that became the turning point of her taste in music.

“Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette changed my life…I’m 37, so I dunno? I was late teens. Before that, Queen. Freddie Mercury was – I only listened to gospel music my whole life up until I was about 13 and then I discovered a Greatest Hits of Queen and the White Album from The Beatles and Pet Sounds from the Beach Boys. Those three compact discs were on rotation.”

How Katy Perry Solved Her Issue With Orlando Bloom

Six months ago, in May, Katy Perry made an appearance in Chelsea Handler’s podcast “Life Will Be the Death of Me,” during her interview with the comedian, Katy opened up on how she and Bloom were able to work through their differences and come up with a solution that helped them from their constant on-again-off-again relationship. The answer? Couples therapy.

Katy said “Your partners usually see your best and a lot of your worst sides because they’re there to be your mirrors. Orlando and I do couples therapy, and we love it because it keeps us in tune, and the resentment can get really strong when you’re both working hard. And God bless successful people in the spotlight, and so when you want to come back to being normal in a domesticated world where you have a child and stuff like that, you have to really learn how to be kind of different out there in the big and in the small. And so we’ve had a lot of success with that couples therapy.”

It is impossible for Ms. Perry to ever gain as much weight as to enter into a “fat Elvis” period and the reason is simple, albeit twofold.- First she has to become as relevant as Elvis then get fat or conversely, get fat first then acheve Presley’s celebrity. Incredible that she graduated from college, as that is a very ignorabt and pompous statement.
