New photos of Katy Perry ignoring Ryan Seacrest on the set of American Idol went viral on social media. The pop star announced that she’s leaving the show.

She wants to go back to performing music. American Idol was in production at the Aulani Disney Resort in Hawaii.

In the new photos published in The U.S. Sun, Katy looked like she was avoiding the host of the show. On Wednesday, February 14, the photos of their awkward encounter went viral.

The cast filmed the upcoming season while they spent time with Mickey and Minnie in their Hawaiian outfits.

Katy Perry looked tense on the set. She wore a neon green fringe strapless dress. She paired her Hawaiian look with layered Puka shell necklaces.

The pop star ignored Ryan, who laughed with the crew members. She ignored him as she walked by and had a grumpy look on her face.

“I would notice interactions between Katy and Ryan Seacrest were pretty icy and they would only interact when the cameras were rolling,” an insider told The U.S. Sun.

“Otherwise, they would just pass each other and not even look in each other’s direction. For the most part, Katy kept to herself unlike prior years on set, and there really seemed to be a distance between herself and the other judges.”

In the past, Katy was close to fellow judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. That doesn’t appear to be the case anymore. Lionel often interacted with Ryan on set. The two happily chatted with one another. Katy’s icy demeanor has fans wondering if this is the reason why she’s leaving the show.

Why Katy Perry Is Leaving American Idol

There are three possible theories as to why Katy Perry is leaving American Idol. On Monday, February 12, she announced on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that she wants to go back to performing. She’s headlining the 2024 Rock in Rio festival in Brazil in September.

However, an insider told the Mirror U.S. that Katy’s relationship with her fiance Orlando Bloom and their three-year-old daughter, Daisy, is the reason behind her decision.

“There are three factors at play centered around her deal and her family,” an insider told the outlet. “Katy enjoyed the best deal for reality in TV, worth around $30 million a year. It made her the (highest female star for reality and entertainment). But ABC do not want to up it after five years of increases.”

Katy Perry was granted to return without an increase in pay. She’s the most expensive judge on the show, which could also indicate her desire to leave.

Also, now that she’s getting older, Katy wants to expand her family. She hopes to spend more time with Orlando and Daisy.
