Katy Perry’s Jeffrey Dahmer Lyrics Backfire In Wake Of New Series’ ReleaseKaty Perry wrote a song that referenced Jeffrey Dahmer’s horrendous crimes in the wake of Netflix’s new series. According to the Mirror, the series has put the serial killer back into the spotlight and music fans didn’t take the song lyrics quite as well as the singer might have expected. Read on and we’ll fill you in on the details.

Katy Perry Slammed on Twitter

Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, superbly acted by American Horror Stories star Evan Peters as Dahmer explores the 13 years the killer spent committing the crimes he was ultimately arrested for in 1990. The series delves into the gruesomeness of Dahmer’s crimes, how he managed to get away with them for so long, and what was discovered in his apartment when he was finally caught.

Dahmer was ultimately found with body parts throughout his apartment with some evidence that he had actually eaten some of his victims. And while the series, as well as Evan’s remarkable portrayal of the serial killer, has been winning praise, 37-year-old Katy Perry has been slammed on Twitter for her song “Dark Horse” which depicts some of the gruesomeness.

Reactions Mixed

In the song, there is a line sung by rapper Juicy J that says, “She’s a beast. I call her Karma. She eats your heart like Jeffrey Dahmer.” It didn’t take very long for fans to call the lyrics “wrong” and “disrespectful” and set about trying to hold the artists accountable for the song.

One twitterer wrote, “Katy Perry should catch some heat for using the lyric, ‘She eat your heart out like Jeffrey Dahmer.’ The level of disrespect to the victims and their families.” Another tweeted, “Knowing the depths of what jeffrey dahmer did…. juicy j wrong for what he said in that katy perry song.”

“I always make my daughter turn the station. It’s so disrespectful to the victim’s families. I hope people remember them while watching Netflix. Sorry for their losses,” exclaimed a third.

Katy Perry Isn’t alone

It’s worth noting that it wasn’t just Katy Perry that included Dahmer in their song, with someone writing, “Still not over the fact that katy perry and kesha both separately made a song with lyrics that referenced jeffrey dahmer and we just let them.”

A song by Kesha from 2010 called Cannibal that recently rose in prominence via TikTok also points to the serial killer. The song, which was released over a decade ago, compares Kesha to Dahmer, saying, “I want your liver on a platter, use my finger to stir my tea. And for dessert, I’ll suck your teeth be too sweet and you’ll be a goner, yeah, I’ll pull a Jeffrey Dahmer.” Be sure and stay on top of this and other related stories.
