Kellie Pickler is not going to let her inlaws get away with all the wrongs they’ve done to her. According to a source, the country singer is hellbent on getting her fair share of her late husband’s possessions from her husband’s parents, who she accuses of being exploitative and insensitive.
Their behavior towards her has reportedly motivated her to see things through to the very end.
Kellie Pickler Refuses To Let Her Late Husband’s Family Take Advantage of Her Situation
In February 2023, Pickler’s husband of 12 years, Kyle Jacobs, passed away from a self-inflicted gunshot. Even though they were married for a long time, Pickler chose to have his parents manage his estate.
However, she’s reportedly no longer comfortable about the decision because they have turned out to be the sort of people that “exploit and prey on a grieving widow, which is what she thinks Reed and Sharon Jacobs are doing to her.
Insisting that she would no longer be pushed around, the singer, 38, has petitioned a court to mediate and hopefully bring a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
Speaking on the court filing, an insider said, “There’s no denying Kellie’s going through a hard time. She really believes this is important and that she needs to take a stand against the wrong that has been done against her.”
What Kellie Pickler’s Lawsuit Against Reed and Sharon Jacobs Is Really About
The dispute actually centers around a document called the ‘List of Assets’ created by Kyle’s parents, which includes personal items they have requested via subpoena.
These items reportedly include Kyle’s gun collection of three rifles, seven pistols, a shotgun, a silencer and a gun safe, and Kyle’s jewelry collection, among other personal items like his work laptop and iPhone.
Pickler’s legal team argue that the items named by the deceased parents are either not in her possession or that the ownership is in dispute. Furthermore, Pickler claims that Kyle’s parents entered her home and took away several items after his death without providing a list of what was taken.
In her filing, she asks the court to compel the couple to provide the names of the items they have removed. “As part of this action, Ms. Pickler seeks an order requiring the co-administrators to identify the items that they obtained from her home,” the petition reads. Pickler also asked the court to resolve the conflict regarding the property.
On their own part, Reed and Sharon are claiming that the conflict is coming from Pickler, who has refused to honor a subpoena requiring the return of all the estate’s property. They also argue that Pickler has been shifty, providing conflicting information about the location and ownership of the items.
As for the items Pickler said they took without consent, they have argued that while they did take items from the home, it was done with the invitation and consent of both Pickler and her counsel.
