Kelly Clarkson News – Why the “Stronger” Singer Is Afraid To Cover Despacito

Kelly Clarkson enlisted Luis Fonsi’s help on The Voice as a celebrity advisor to help her in coaching her team. During the show Kelly Clarkson recalled that he’s the singer of the famous song that she’s always too afraid to cover. She asserts that it is not about the Spanish, as she does love working with Spanish and other languages, but that there’s something about the song that keeps pulling her back every time she’s ever tried to sing it.

She told Fonsi that he has the one song in history that she’s too afraid to cover, and it happens to be the singer’s biggest hit. The video alone has received more than 7 billion views to date and is the most-viewed music video in YouTube’s history. The music video is followed by Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You which has garnered more than 5 billion views to date.

“I have practiced so hard, because I love singing in Spanish as well, or just in different languages,” Clarkson replied. “And it’s, like, the biggest song of all time. You’re kind of like, ‘You know what? I’m gonna leave that alone,'” she joked. The singer is famous for singing her own version of a song on her Kelly Clarkson Show.

The song Despacito was originally released in January 2017 as a collaboration between Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee. A remix featuring Justin Bieber was later released that same year in April. The bilingual remix spent 16 weeks at Billboard’s hot 100 no. 1, tying the record originally set by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men with the song One Sweet Day. Both records were later broken by Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” and its remix featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, which spent 19 weeks on top of the Billboard hot 100.
